The last 4 years were a divisive time for us here in the United States. Partisanship - fueled by the rise of the far right -made being a citizen of this country an exhaustive effort. Every week, there was a new powder keg issue for polarized caricatures of American values to stoke outrage over. It was like a never ending UFC staredown that could at any moment break out into violence. Sometimes it did. A constant cold war in which history, resentment, and community clashed at the line of scrimmage.
